Keep it in your clinic

I purchased this book a while back and just now realized I haven't reviewed it. The book is very straightforward with its concepts. The text aided by pictures is self explanatory and easy to understand. The techniques are easy to learn, very safe and very applicable. It's definitely a good resource for any therapist who wants to add tools in their tool box. Keep it in your clinic.

Mulligan writes his book in the same manner as if he is sitting down talking to you. He lays out the techniques in very basic terms that are easy for any therapist to understand. His methods are just amazing when it comes to correcting imbalances or relieving pain.

She contributed to many publications and had a regular column in the trade magazine, the Knitting and Haberdashery Review. She became a household name in the knitting world, known for her flair, technical mastery and innovation in design. Sadly, Montse died in 1999.

Still a Excellent Reference

As other comments say, this book does sound like a strict teacher from school, however the authors true intention (only my interpretation) is to show you as many different ways as possible to achieve the best results for your project. And about her annotations, to me, it is not bad at all to listen to others' opinions, especially who has a lot more experience than I do. But, it does not necessary mean I have to do the same.
I have never seen most of these interesting methods shown in this book. For example, she showed so many different ways to cast on & bind off, including even "Picot point bind off" , or "Frilled bind off", which I found very pretty. Other areas such as cast on, edges and selvedges, seams and joins ..... also comes with variety, and she annotates which selvedge is a good match to which bind off, and etc. Simple summaries are also given to show which meets what purposes. ex; crochet joints for recycling- expected project. Overall, this book is more like a textbook from school. However, I like that style when I am seriously want to learn something.
I was looking for a clever way to bind off my sweater. I knit this with a super bulky fancy yarn which is so irregular in width. None of the binding method I knew did not look good, I was so disappointed. All the books I purchased all in my life (I start knitting since 9.)were very good, but usually show only a limited number of ways to do the things. But, in this book I found many ways that I would like to experiment with.
The other thing which is wonderful about this book is the price. To me, it gave me so much more than I paid. I think this is a very good book if you are, like me, trying to get out of the beginner level at a least amount of budget
Lastly, this may be not for beginners, so many methods shown will probably confuse her/him. I would buy a more basic books, and use this one for extra reference. And all the methods are not necessary explained in details. Intermediate to advanced knitting experience may be needed to understand the instructions.

The Ultimate Knitting Book

Briefly, I am just learning to use this book. It sat on my shelf for quite a while, until I realized I couldn't find information I needed in Vogue Knitting, The Big Book of Knitting, or any of the other popular knitting books. After learning the basics, when you need more complex information on an unfamiliar or obscure technique, this book is more likely to have it than the newer, flashier, and more expensive books. The number of options she offers for any given technique is astounding, and once you get over the feeling of being overwhelmed with too much information, you begin to appreciate the differences and are able to make an informed choice. This is rapidly becoming my primary resource. I can get the basics out of Vogue, but for more advanced techniques, this is my first choice.

Fantastic book! As a newcomer to juicing

Fantastic book! As a newcomer to juicing, this book is the best, and one of my favorites. Before this book, I would go to the grocery store and buy a few vegetables to juice, but overlook most of them, having no idea how to use them. Now I look through the book and create a shopping list. This book takes Vanessa's YEARS of experience and knowledge and puts it in a format that is super easy to read and FULL of information. She could have named it the Encyclopedia of Juicing! This is one of those books that I will let anyone read, but there's no way it's leaving my house!

I will never buy store-bought juice, lemonade, chia beverages, or soda again, because now I can make my own in a much healthier version.

I can’t say enough great things about this book

I can’t say enough great things about this book. First, it is a beautiful book – the photos for me is something I look for in juicing books. Second, the recipes are delicious - I have tried about 10 so far - only had the book for a week. I honestly have not made one “juice” that I did not like. Third, the basics are covered here including the difference between juicing and blending and for a long time I just didn’t get why it was important…now I do. Lastly, the “Especially for Health” section was worth the price of the book in and of its-self. If you are on the fence on whether to purchase this book or not just do it … you won’t be disappointed.

One of the best parts is the index

I received my book about 3 weeks ago, and have been enjoying it more than any other juicing resource I have ever had. One of the best parts is the index. I can get a clear picture of recipes available using specific items. A decent index is rare in juicing books, for some reason. There are a variety of recipes using all kinds of readily available items, and the color photographs are lovely. As I write this review, I am drinking a juice from the book containing beets, beet greens, apples, and zucchini. It was a little sweet for my taste, so I added lemon juice. Delicious! Imagine how much nutrition you can get in a quick and easy manner. I don't do a lot of cooking, so juicing is important to me.

He presents a five-part plan to overcome this fatigue, stressing a high fiber/low fat diet, a daily exercise regimen, resting exercises, a five-minute booster routine, and an attitude/stress management plan. He also addresses the special needs of women executives. The narration of one successful case study after another is cloying, but this book will appeal to those who enjoyed his earlier work, The Hilton Head Metabolism Diet ( LJ 3/15/83), and it is recommended for public libraries serving an executive clientele. About the Author
Gabriel Lord is a Professor in the Maxwell Institute, Department of Mathematics, at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He has worked on stochastic PDEs and applications for the past ten years. He is the co-editor of Stochastic Methods in Neuroscience with C. Liang, has organised a number of international meetings in the field, and is principal investigator on the porous media processes and mathematics network funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK). He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, LMS, and EMS, as well as an Associate Editor for the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing and the SIAM/ASA Journal on Uncertainty Quantification.

Catherine Powell is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics and Numerical Analysis at the University of Manchester. She has worked in the field of stochastic PDEs and uncertainty quantification for ten years. She has co-organised several conferences on the subject, and together with Tony Shardlow, initialised the annual NASPDE series of meetings (now in its sixth year). Currently, she is the principal investigator on an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council funded project on the 'Numerical Analysis of PDEs with Random Data'. She is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and an Associate Editor for the SIAM/ASA Journal on Uncertainty Quantification.

Tony Shardlow has been working in the numerical analysis group at the University of Bath since 2012. Before that, he held appointments at the universities of Manchester, Durham, Oxford, and Minnesota. He completed his Ph.D. in Scientific Computing and Computational Mathematics at Stanford University in 1997.
