About the Author
Rolando V. del Carmen is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Criminal Justice in the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He was assistant dean and associate professor of a school of law in the Philippines and has held various administrative and academic positions in the United States. In addition, he has taught at various universities and has written extensively, including numerous articles on legal issues and more than ten books. A consultant to criminal justice agencies in a number of states, Dr. Del Carmen served a six-year term to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. He earned the Fellow Award (1990), Bruce Smith Award (1996), and Founders Award (2005) from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He holds a B.A. and a bachelor of laws degree from the Philippines, a master of comparative law from Southern Methodist University, a master of laws from the University of California at Berkeley, and a doctor of science of law from the University of Illinois.

INSTRUCTOR VERSION COVER UP

The pages of the book were like new. The cover of the book was horroible. There was colored tape and stickers all over the book. It looked like they had tried to make a new cover for the book. After removing some of the tape it was discovered there was nothing wrong with the cover. They were just trying to hide the fact that the books were instructor versions. The material in the inside is the same for both student and instructor version just the covers are different. I order Criminal Procedure: Law and Practice 9th edition books. I didn't want an instructor version or a taped cover. I expected to have some use stickers on the outside of the book, but this was wrong to sell these books as they were.

I only ordered this book because I was told I have to have it. Most of the time I find the books to be cheaper on Amazon than with the school or their book stores. Make sure you shop before using the schools to obtain the materials you need to complete your courses. This is a college book that I had to order to fulfill my class work. The book provided the information I needed to complete the entire task assigned by the facilitator. To most people there will be nothing special about this book. And I would imagine that if you are buying this book you are not doing so out of fun. Good luck in your future courses and positions. May all your classes bring you much knowledge.

A delightfully concise and comprehensive law book

If a law student is fortunate enough to have this textbook as a requirement of their course, then they are in for a great read. The book is comprehensive in terms of layering law in immediately practical format, and grouping the many factors and agencies in the criminal justice system so that the student gets the grand picture of the justice system. Further chapters break down the responsibilities of each system and explain how they work interdependently. This is a terrific introductory text with highlighted information and thousands of outside (free) sites to really dig deep into preparation of assignments and research. Included are resources to up-to-date database search sites to take your legal research in any direction and find the answers you're looking for. This ninth edition text is a powerhouse for easy to read and informative criminal procedure with an exciting presentation, easy to annotate, and written so well that many facets of criminal justice procedure become instinct for the student for recollection and application.
