It's only $35 at Collected Works Bookstore and Coffee house in Santa Fe. The people trying to sell this for more are crooks. The book store is setting money aside for cancer research. Don't give your money to crooks... that are only seeking 'your' treasures.

This book is only available at a book store in Santa Fe, NM. Proceeds go to help fight cancer. The book store is Collected Works. And the hunt for the treasure is ON! So far, as of this writing, no word on if it was found yet. If found, who could keep quiet about it?? lol.. Forrest is leaving many legacies behind, including this one. Get all the info on him you can. And good luck in finding the treasure. :-) And he's also on facebook, the book & all is on facebook.

There was a reason why we got this book, as I am sure most others are doing the same. When I first began to read it, I was a little annoyed thinking "this was obviously self published" due to the lack of editing and choice of words. Once you get past the simplicity of his choice of words, there is actually a romance to the story. Not in the sense of a romance novel, but a romance in the way he loved and lived his life. Reading the old stories of "back in the day", an era seemed to be long forgotten, was simply wonderful, soothing and left me longing for those days to return again.

Stacey Byrne (@SLByrneCPA) is a practicing CPA with 25 years' experience consulting with a variety of small to medium-sized businesses including restaurants, construction companies, law firms, and not-for-profit organizations. She has worked as a staff accountant at the Iacopi, Lenz & Co. CPA firm, and is the former director of finance for a management company where she oversaw accounting and payroll for multiple facilities, including a sports/entertainment arena, theatre, ice rink, and ballpark. Stacey is a former adjunct professor of QuickBooks at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California. Stacey holds several Intuit certifications in QuickBooks (Advanced Desktop, Advanced Online, and Enterprise). She is a certified Sleeter Group QuickBooks consultant and a certified Xero Partner. Stacey holds a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting from California State University, Stanislaus, and is currently in pursuit of her M.S. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the California CPA Society, Sleeter Group Consultants Network, and the Woodard Network. You see, Will can illegally exploit the tech every Harkonite has in his head to create many illusions. But love is no illusion! Will believes that all he could manage would be a kind of lust-slave spell, and even a con-artist has to draw the line somewhere. Yet, despite the sign, citizens keep on asking. Why can’t his customers accept his one rule? Why do they keep asking for love? And, what happens when one particular customer won’t take “no” for an answer?

Cyborg Spell Shop: A Harkon Colony Short Story

I love my fantasy and magic but not too bothered about sci fi so why did I buy this - I was looking for something short and punchy for a train journey. The title made absolutely no sense but I was in a rush. Well I am so glad I got this book, (I shall have to rush my purchases more often!) It is a great short story, the characters are great and the story is wacky enough to be engaging. I must admit I was ready to slam this book and leave a crap review but I found myself getting drawn in by the story and the characters to the point where I wanted it to last a lot longer.

In short this is a great book that is well written. I am looking forward to getting more by this author :-)

Hilarious and entertaining short story! Short ribs, please.

This is an exceedingly amusing little short story about a technosage who uses technology to convince people he knows magic. Of course, the tables get turned on him when someone demands the only spell he can't give: Love. Our hero then finds himself on the other side of his own style of "magic," and has to use his wits to scramble out. It all works out in the end in an amusing and thoroughly satisfying manner. It feels in some ways like a zany and hilarious '80s movie. I'm a big fan of author James Chalk!

What a beautifully written Christian book for new Dads. I gave one each to my own grandson who was a new dad, and one to my grand daughter's husband, who was a new dad, also! They both told me how they knew most of everything in the books, but appreciated the reminders! Both boys have been raised in the church, but a little nudge never hurts!!!

Excellent, but not complete

The 36 pages of the free Kindle edition contain Dickens' riveting account of the wreck and aftermath. However, not included here are the collaborative bits (stories related by the castaways to ease their ordeal.) These were part of the original book, and were contributed by Wilkie Collins and other contemporaries of Charles Dickens. I was disappointed that these "stories within the story" were omitted.

About the End of the Story....

SPOILER ALERT - The online version of this otherwise very good story that I and seemingly others have read ends with the lifeboats still lost at sea. There is a version of the story in Dickens' published "Christmas Stories" book that I am getting from the library to compare, but in doing some searching, it appears that there is nothing further about the end of the story available.

However, at the outset of the story, the narrator says that he is writing in 1856, and later says the voyage took place in 1851. From that, one would conclude that at least both the Captain and the First Mate, who finishes the story, survived in some fashion. But it does seem odd that there is no further explanation of what happened in the end - Dickens generally gave very detailed endings to most of his stories. I wondered if one of the other authors who apparently worked on the story supplied the ending (several of the stories that Dickens wrote with others have been published later omitting the portions not written by him, which can be frustrating), but I have so far not been able to find anything further. It appears what the other authors may have written instead are the stories the passengers told each other after the shipwreck, which are omitted in the online version that I read. In any event, as mentioned above, from the cited dates in the story, it appears that at least some survived the ordeal.

This is a book that is clearly aimed at a specific business vertical, yet in many ways a lot of the advice can be transferred into other areas with a smidgeon of imagination.

This reviewer’s first impression was to wonder WHY the construction industry would need its own special book, as surely moving bits and pieces around for builders and other trades is hardly unique. There can be issues moving a lorry-load of glass, of course, but then moving highly corrosive chemicals around the world is manageable too; it is just a matter of technique and procedure. Yet boy, was one wrong! There are some subtle differences that can be found within the construction industry’s use of logistics (not all participants are even clued-up but when they’ve seen this book…) and these could possibly be implemented within many other sectors.

So this book became a great little read, a surprising source of knowledge that one never imagined would be of importance – even for someone who has no immediate plans to work within the construction industry in any function. Some of the chapters give a lot of food for thought, such as the use of returnable packaging and off-site product manufacture and assembly. It clearly has the potential to be the book you didn’t think you needed but are a lot more inspired and informed about as a result of it. The price is a little bit on the high side for a speculative purchase, even though the potential savings for your enterprise could be clearly much higher.

One had not considered that even the larger house builders might not have that much purchasing power for many products, when they “only” build 10,000 buildings a year and their delivery address can be the entire country. So every small saving and efficiency within the supply chain can be important, as well as ensuring that production continues unabated. The author puts forward some interesting ideas for creative thinking that might, on first glance, be counterintuitive, yet in the real world could offer up a sizeable saving. You will have to read the book to discover that knowledge and other things that may have you going “duh…” when you realise the apparently obvious things you may be overlooking.

That’s about it. An unexpected, positive surprise in other words. If you have any input to the supply chain or purchasing function, in any industry, this book might be capable of improving your company’s bottom line.

Stresses the importance of timing and effieciency in logistics and supply chain

However, there can also be increased risk if the strengths and weaknesses of the third party companies are not fully understood and managed.” (p. 78)

Supply Chain Management & Logistics in Construction: Delivering Tomorrow’s Built Environment (Kogan Page 2015) contains the collective knowledge of seventeen highly qualified contributors representing a number of roles within the industry – including its suppliers. Greger Lungesjö, listed as the book’s author, serves a double role as contributor and editor.

It is important to clarify that logistics has a different meaning in the construction industry than it does in others. Logistics is the term used to describe the movement of materials, people, and supporting services around a project site – not getting the materials, equipment, and people to the building site. You might even think of logistics as the ‘indirect spend’ of a construction site/project. It is absolutely critical, but it does not become part of the final structure. Fear not however, supply chain is still supply chain – an area of investment from which the industry is just starting to realize the potential for benefit.

In their effort to improve supply chain management, the construction industry has looked primarily to manufacturing and retail for leadership. But the project-oriented nature of construction, as well as the role of sub-contractors who divide both risks and costs among themselves, adds to the complexity and makes the needs of construction unique.

Whether you know construction as a primary activity or a sourced one, it is a critical contributor to any national economy as measured by percent of GDP, job creation, or gross value. Broad trends such as urbanization, sustainability, data modeling, and just in time management have major impacts on construction projects.

The four sections of the book break the chapters down as follows:
- Strategic Perspectives (chapters 1-5) – Note: Anyone with a more traditional supply chain perspective serving or working in the construction industry is likely to get the fastest value from chapters 4 and 5 which address supply chain management in general and then, more specifically, risk considerations.
- The Impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and New Data Management Capabilities (chapter 6)
- Construction Logistics and Sustainability (chapters 7-8)
- Logistics Operations (9-13)

One of the most undeniable takeaways from the book is the importance of timing: both in logistics and supply chain. Connecting the two efforts better for the sake of efficiency will require a focus on throughput (think about the limited mechanisms for moving materials) and storage (particularly in urban settings) constraints. Materials, people, and equipment must be available when needed, but not a second too soon or a minute too late. Efforts to incorporate prefabrication have relieved some of the strain of site logistics, but only to a certain extent. 3PLs are underutilized, according to the contributors, and are an area of significant future potential.

Although there is some case study content, it is ‘anonymous’ and generalized in terms of numbers, which is too bad. That being said, it is better to have that information included than not.

In a more general connection to our supply chain management coverage, suppliers and providers are playing an increasing role in project delivery and completion. We are familiar with the general contractor vs. subcontractor construction management approach, but that does not mean that the balance of labor and oversight has stayed the same. And as we well know, the more risk, responsibility, and cost is tied up in those subcontractors, the more important the process for selecting them. Any procurement professional can relate to that.
